BDD 2007 released..
Posted by kyle on January 17th, 2007 filed in Vista DeploymentThe final version of BDD 2007 has been released ready for use – you can get it from here
What is BDD 2007? BDD stands for Business Desktop Deployment – this is the toolkit that Microsoft has put together to enable the deployment of Windows Vista and Windows XP and Office 2003 and 2007 into an environment.
With the consumer release of Vista only days away, now is the time to rethink deployment strategies. Even if you are not deploying Vista, use BDD to accelerate and manage the deployments of your XP environments.
In the past the BDD has really been about guidance lots of documents- with very few tools actually built in – with BDD2007 this changes, there is a extensive document library but there is also a new tool named the BDD Workbench. Using the workbench, you can create and modify deployments - including unattended installations of Applications, patches, etc. Combine this with the System Image Management tool and you have deployments of your Windows Vista environments all sorted.
Also – if you are looking at doing the MS Exam 70-624: Deploying and Maintaining Vista Clients and Office System 2007 Desktops then you will need to know how to use the workbench (amongst the rest of the objectives).
Cheers
Kyle
